ON THE SUBJECT OF THE INSTITUTION OF SLAVERY

31 Aug

“Slavery was legal until it wasn’t. The descendants of former slave owners should not be prosecuted or shamed over something that happened over 150 years ago. The descendants today who had family to fight for the Confederacy should be honored. They are no different from the soldiers who fought in the Revolution, the War of 1812, or the Mexican War. Initially, Lincoln didn’t use the nuclear option on slavery until TWO years into the war. It wasn’t a moral question for Lincoln but a military means to create chaos behind enemy lines. Why would Lincoln not free persons considered as slaves in States NOT in rebellion? Modern progressive organizations and educational institutions need to get off their moral soapboxes as to the facts about Lincoln’s true motives around the slave were anything but hypocritical.”
